Summer Vacation Engagements: Productive Tips for Students and Parents | The Edutainment
May I say hello to all our students as well as all parents gathering here?
Summer is here and that means students can finally sleep late, skip school uniforms, and enjoy a different daily schedule. Even though holidays are meant for unwinding, they also provide wonderful opportunities to grow, discover new things and learn in interesting ways. Our goal at The Edutainment is to show you how to enjoy your summer days by paying attention to your education as well as having fun with games, picnics, reading and learning.
We’ll be discussing ways for students and parents to beat
time challenges, remain attached to learning and have a fun vacation in this
blog. Ready for some explanation?
1. Give Warm Greetings for the Vacation
Start your summer with warm greetings and positive
intentions. Take a moment to thank Allah for the opportunity to rest and reset.
This is also a good time for families to come together and plan how they can
make this vacation special, both enjoyable and fruitful.
2. The Secret to a Relaxing Summer is Good Time Management.
Summer holidays don’t change your everyday habits. Life
adjusts as time goes on. Together with your child, plan a daily routine that
has a mix of activities.
- Learn
each skill for one to two hours
- Try
involving yourself in sports, workouts or other physical activities
- Family
picnics
- Prayer
and religious learning
- Creative
hobbies
- Screen
time with purpose
Remind your little ones to wake up early, pray and begin
their day in a good mood. When days are organized, it becomes easier for kids
to get back into school smoothly.
3. Stay Informed about Your Studies.
Even when it’s a holiday, academics should not be forgotten.
Help kids avoid losing their academic progress by including educational
activities in their daily routine.
- Spend
30 minutes every day going through academic books
- Practice
basic English concepts through The Edutainment’s YouTube videos
- Take
part in daily YouTube polls and answer educational questions in the
comments
- Engage
with our entertaining practice worksheets
4. Improving your skills in English can be done by reading and writing.
•
Make it a habit to read a story that you haven’t
encountered before once a week.
•
Create a quick summary to develop your skills in
writing
•
List down any hard-to-understand words and
meanings to learn more vocabulary
•
Participate in spelling bees as it helps you
focus and learn language better
5. Enjoy But Stay Productive.
Summer break should be enjoyable! Take time for family
picnics, get your friends together for joyful events and dedicate yourself to
all the Eid activities. At the same time, plan a little time each day for
constructive study.
Introduce activities that help students improve their learning abilities:
- Indoor
games like, Ludo (great for critical thinking) etc
- Word
games to learn new vocabulary
- Science
experiments at home
- Independent
writing practice
- Outdoor
games
6. Religion Involvement: Keep Touching the Quran
Spiritual development is just as important as academic
success. Daily research and learning about religion should be consistent.
- Conduct
five prayers every day or more if desired
- Understand
the teachings in the Quran
- Study
‘day to day’ duas daily
- Keep a
dua diary to write and learn one dua each day
It helps them know about their faith and remain connected to
who they are.
7. Enroll in Classes That Relate to Technology.
The freedom of vacation gives people a chance to try out new
interests. Enroll your kids in courses that teach skills they are curious
about.
•
Opportunities to learn how to cook and bake Stitching
or sewing workshops
• Learning computer skills
• Getting to know the basics of AI and
technology
• Graphic design courses or video editing
courses
• Learning how to develop your public
speaking or personality
They might be on the internet or found
somewhere outside the internet. You can find cheap summer programs from
different local organizations and NGOs.
